Culture Crisis in America

The entire idea that drives American culture, “individual freedom,” I learned, is the most destructive idea that any society can follow, “as it stands on its own.” This should be common sense, but it isn’t, and the reason I lost my tolerance is because it’s only become more and more of a problem over the years, but no one sees the problem, except for the rare few. That drives me nuts, because by now its should be evident to sociologists, psychologists, pollsters, politicians, the clergy, even moms and dads, but it isn’t. The problem still goes unnoticed all across the broad spectrum of American society, which is why America today is in the midst of a “societal collapse” that can’t be stopped because the problem remains so well hidden.

America is my country, and I love America. I’m very proud to be an American, and just like my children and seven grandchildren, I will do whatever I can to try to save this great and beautiful country. But that effort has been extremely frustrating, because of the length and complexity of the process I had to go through to first find out what was going wrong with America, and then to find the solutions to fix the problem. But the hardest part of all, was verbally expressing what I’ve learned. Actually, I sure learned how true the old expression is, “thoughts are one thing and words are another.”  You see, thoughts are only for oneself, the thinker, but to express one’s thoughts to the world, which is subject to “millions of different interpretations,”…well, that surely is another problem altogether. But the point is, try making the decision to stand on the side, to do nothing to help the people you love or the country you love when in trouble.

You can’t do it without feeling tormented with frustration, and if that frustration persists long enough, it will turn into feelings of guilt, and on occasion even anger.

This is what happened to me over the course of the last forty or so years, all because I saw something going wrong with America back in the 1970s, and I took on the challenge of trying to figure out what it was. I resigned myself to never quit until I either identified the problem or I became absolutely sure that I couldn’t.

Many year later, I do believe I found the problem. I learned that “life” is always more important than one’s freedom. Explaining why this is the case has been my continued challenge. I learned that the idea of individual freedom without life to give these words their meaning, once taken into the heart of our social ideology, has the power to destroy both an individual’s life, as well as the society that that individual lives in. In other words, if an individual’s freedom is rendered of higher value than life, for whatever the cause, it will not take more than two generations for the society to totally collapse. Well, guess what? America today, is nearing the end of that second generation.

This is why I must continue my effort and hope that others with increasingly join in, before it is too late for America.
